Virulence of Icelandic Pyrenophora teres f. teres populations and resistance of Icelandic spring barley lines

چکیده

Abstract The causal agent of the barley net blotch disease, Pyrenophora teres , is known for its high level diversity due to sexual reproduction. Different pathotypes, defined by a virulence combination, even within same fields are frequently found and between locations can vary considerably. Evaluation patterns pathogen population essential breeding resistant cultivars suitable specific locations. To identify in Icelandic f. (Ptt) isolates, twenty single spore isolates Ptt were collected from seven Iceland analysed with AFLP markers. Principle Coordinate Analysis (PCoA) revealed clustering away reference Austria, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA. Hierarchical grouped into three distinct groups. Furthermore, these was tested on 16 differential lines variation their virulence. Twenty-one commonly used showed susceptibility towards inoculation isolates.

Current Virulence of Pyrenophora teres on Barley in Western Australia

Net blotch, caused by Pyrenophora teres Drechs. (anamorph: Drechslera teres (Sacc.) Shoemaker), is a prominent foliar disease of barley (Hordeum vulgare L. emend. Bowden) in Western Australia (19,46), as well as elsewhere in the world (13,28,31,34,39,41). Two types of leaf symptoms are associated with the net blotch disease: the net type, caused by P. teres f. teres, which causes horizontal and...

Genetic mapping of Pyrenophora teres f. teres genes conferring avirulence on barley.

A Pyrenophora teres f. teres cross between isolates 0-1 and 15A was used to evaluate the genetics of avirulence associated with barley lines Canadian Lake Shore (CLS), Tifang, and Prato. 15A is avirulent on Tifang and CLS, but virulent on Prato. Conversely, 0-1 is avirulent on Prato, but virulent on Tifang and CLS. Avirulence:virulence on Tifang and CLS segregated 1:1, whereas avirulence:virule...

Reference Assembly and Annotation of the Pyrenophora teres f. teres Isolate 0-1

Pyrenophora teres f. teres, the causal agent of net form net blotch (NFNB) of barley, is a destructive pathogen in barley-growing regions throughout the world. Typical yield losses due to NFNB range from 10 to 40%; however, complete loss has been observed on highly susceptible barley lines where environmental conditions favor the pathogen. Currently, genomic resources for this economically impo...

Demethylase Inhibitor Fungicide Resistance in Pyrenophora teres f. sp. teres Associated with Target Site Modification and Inducible Overexpression of Cyp51

Pyrenophora teres f. sp. teres is the cause of net form of net blotch (NFNB), an economically important foliar disease in barley (Hordeum vulgare). Net and spot forms of net blotch are widely controlled using site-specific systemic fungicides. Although resistance to succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors and quinone outside inhibitors has been addressed before in net blotches, mechanisms controllin...

Mapping of quantitative trait loci associated with resistance to net form net blotch (Pyrenophora teres f. teres) in a doubled haploid Norwegian barley population

Barley net blotch caused by the necrotrophic fungus Pyrenophora teres is a major barley disease in Norway. It can cause grain shriveling and yield losses, and resistance in currently grown cultivars is insufficient. In this study, a set of 589 polymorphic SNP markers was used to map resistance loci in a population of 109 doubled haploid lines from a cross between the closely related Norwegian c...
